In The Alley

This is probably my favorite photo of them all. I wish I had narrative to go with it. One of you must know where this is. Click on for a larger image.

Photographer's note:
Taken in Meridian, Mississippi (map) with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi.

This is the alley between Front and 2nd street looking NE from 25th to 23rd ave. The building on the right was the old location of my father's business (Queen City Feed and Seed) which occupied three of the buildings from about 1940 until 1961. This picture was taken some time after my father moved his business to 23rd ave. The buildings were converted later to condominiums (I think in the 1990's). You can tell the condominiums by the rail and deck on the back plus the new electric meters. The back of Rayner Drugs was located at the east end of the alley.

As a kid I spent many hours playing in this alley and exploring the upper floors of these buildings. Two of my father's buildings were 3 stories and had been hotels at some time in history. It was fun to sneak into the unused upper floors and explore many things that had been left from the early 20th century.
